Heywood and Hawkeridge Village Hall

100 Years of the Village Hall In 1926 a small plot of land was made available for the villagers to construct a small communal hall for villager meetings. This plot was 30 feet by 20 feet and for the next 70 years the community maximised the use with W.I. Mothers Union, Scouts, Guides and other residents’ groups making full use of the facilities. Subsequently John Hussey, a local builder and property developer, applied for permission for four building plots on the adjacent field, he had purchased from Church Farm.
The land joined Church Road leading down to Bitham Brook.
Permission was granted, and in return John built and donated the new building and the plot which forms the Village Green.
The Trustees are responsible for maintaining the Villlage Hall on behalf of the residents of Heywood and Hawkeridge Parish

There is one main room with a small low stage with curtains to one end.
At the other end there is a fully equipped modern kitchen with a cooker, fridge, cutlery, china and glasses. There is a broad serving hatch to the main room.
The hall has a disabled toilet and is fully accessible, the hall also has baby changing facilities.
Tables and chairs can be provided for family parties, children’s parties and other celebrations. Tablecloths are available for hire. The hall has seating for up to 100 people or 89 when seated at tables. The maximum for a close seated or standing audience is 196. There is On Site - Off road, parking for at least 25 vehicles and there are no specific parking restrictions on Church Road [beyond those provisioned in the Highway Code].

Quiz Events, Plant & Craft Fairs, Talent Contests, Product Presentations, Plays and Pantomime Rehearsals and Performance Jewellery and Curio Valuation Events, Off-Site Meetings, Art Classes, Craft Group Meetings Board Game Tournaments, Charity Fund Raising, Education & Tuition, Jumble Sales, Table Top Sales and many more!!!

Currently there is no Alcohol licence in place permitting the sale of these items for the premises. However there are no regulations relating to "Bring Your Own Bottle" events. The majority of our hirers go self catering although we can provide details of local caterers who can provide these services. Soft Drinks can be sold on the premises.
